The project was submitted as part of the proposal process for the Halkbank Headquarters Complex planned within the Istanbul Finance Center. The master plan prepared for the Istanbul Finance Center had already defined the district’s internal circulation principles as well as building massing and scale parameters.
A contemporary architectural interpretation rooted in tradition was anticipated. The main design idea is formed by an external structural envelope that gives the building a strong and distinctive identity. Interpreted as a large-scale contemporary expression of the geometric lattice language found in traditional architecture, this envelope integrates with the structural system to create depth and shadow on the façade while providing climatic protection.
A secondary façade layer positioned within the envelope establishes a transitional zone between the outer scale and the interior spatial experience, making the human scale perceptible. It improves the building’s energy performance through solar control, reduction of heat gain, and the balanced distribution of natural daylight.
Sky gardens located within the tower masses and along the façades facing the inner courtyard provide employees with high-quality spaces enriched by natural light and a connection to greenery. The podium volumes engage with the public realm of the finance center, forming an urban environment defined at the human scale. Social floors and recessed glazed surfaces create a sense of lightness in the upper portions of the mass, while the crowning frame element elegantly completes the silhouette and conceals technical spaces, reinforcing the architectural integrity of the composition.
