Merkez Plaza Habertürk Management Building, constructed between 2006 and 2008, stands on the triangular site of a demolished multi-story car park between Abdülhakhamit and Yedikuyular Avenues in Talimhane. Designed as the headquarters for a major media group’s TV studios, newspapers, and magazines, the project program was outlined in principle rather than defined in detail. Consequently, the planning was developed to allow for flexible usage.

The vacant space left beneath the Abdülhakhamit Avenue wing by the former car park allowed for 10 floors of construction, while Talimhane’s new zoning regulations permitted 12 floors along the avenue. Under these conditions, the site was utilized as a single whole at the lower levels, whereas at the street level, two blocks were designed, creating a green forecourt between them. This plaza is intended to contribute to the region as an expansion area within Talimhane’s dense urban fabric.

Starting from the bottom, eight floors were organized as a parking garage with a capacity of approximately 1,300 vehicles for public use, while two floors were designated for the group’s TV and radio studios and general service areas. The two blocks above street level are characterized by highly transparent facades facing the southern plaza, while the northern facades overlooking Dolapdere appear relatively more opaque. One of the upper blocks currently serves as the media center, while the second awaits a determined purpose.
