Located on a 297,000 m² site within the Konya Organized Industrial Zone, the facility is established with a total enclosed area of 55,000 m². Following the completion of all expansion phases, it will reach an annual production capacity of 200 million liters of ice cream. The project was planned as a benchmark model to guide Unilever’s future ice cream factory designs globally. Consequently, a repeatable and modular design approach was adopted for production principles, material selection, and spatial organization.

The primary units directly related to production—including raw material storage, mixing, production, packaging, and cold storage—are positioned linearly along an east-west axis. All technical utilities, personnel, and administrative blocks are situated south of the production units, also following a linear alignment. This configuration allows the ammonia blocks, which provide the critical cooling for ice cream production, to be located as close as possible to the areas of use. Blocks of varying heights and widths are integrated into a cohesive architectural composition through a colonnade on the roadside facade. Furthermore, the circulation of personnel is designed in accordance with the operational principles of the facility’s hygienic zones.

Incorporating advanced environmental protection criteria such as heat recovery, rainwater and surface water recycling, and on-site waste segregation, the factory has earned the distinction of being the first LEED-certified ice cream factory in the world.
